چکیده

Aims & Objectives: The present study consists in evaluation of the effects of the dipeptides Kyotorphin (Kyo) and D-Kyotorphin (D-Kyo) on nociception and plasma levels of adrenocorticotrophic hormone and corticosterone after 1 hour of heat stress in rats. Materials & Methods: Kyo and D-Kyo`s effects on nociception were evaluated by Paw pressure and Hot plate test after 1 hour of heat stress. Plasma levels of both hormones were determined by Radio immunological assays. Conclusions : Since a decrease in heat-stress-induced analgesia and ACTH and CORT plasma levels was observed we assumed that both dipeptides take part in the body`s anti-stress system.

Effects of Coenzyme Q10 and Vitamin C on Growth Performance and Blood Components in Broiler Chickens under Heat Stress

This experiment was carried out to study the effects of Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) and vitamin C (VC) on growth performance and blood biochemistry in broiler chickens under heat stress conditions. One of three levels of CoQ10 (0, 20, and 40 mg/kg of diet) and one of two levels of VC (0 and 250 mg/kg of diet) were supplemented to diets of chicks (from 1-42 d of age) in a 3 × 2 factorial arrangement. E...

The effect of interference of morphine and immobility stress on performance of pituitary–adrenal axis in mature male rats

Introduction: Morphine as an alkaloid from the poppy plant (papaver somniferum) is extracted and used by millions of people around the world and also types of stresses threated such as immobility stress the health of many people. The aim of this study was to investigate the interference of morphine and immobility stress on plasma levels of hormones of ACTH and corticosterone in mature male rats...

Protective role of vitamin-D on chronic stress induced-learning and memory deficits in rats

Introduction: Long-term stress disturbs HPA axis and increases glucocorticoids release, which disturbs neural plasticity in the hippocampus and may lead to learning and memory deficits. Noticeably, vitamin D plays a protective role in the nervous system and has receptors in the hippocampus. This behavioral study investigates the possible protective role of vitamin-D against the negative effects...

Effect of maternal variable stress on oxidative status and glucose metabolism in pubertal male rats

Introduction: Metabolic disorders are affected by negative stress experiences in the early stages of life. Accordingly, in this study, the effects of stress during pregnancy on oxidative status and glucose homeostasis in pubertal male Wistar rats were investigated. Materials and Methods: After pregnancy, female rats (200±30 g) were divided into 2 groups (6 rats per group) of stress and non-stre...

Different activation of ACTH and corticosterone release in response to various stressors in rats.

The aim of this study was to investigate the reaction of the hypothalamo-pituitary-adrenocortical (HPA) system to various stressors (fasting, crowding, cold and heat) by measuring blood ACTH and corticosterone (CORT) concentration as well as the cholesterol (CHOL) content in the adrenals. To examine the effects of stress termination, the rats were returned and kept under control conditions for ...
